So Sweet it’s SOUR: How skateboarding CAN change the world….

2008

The SourCrew documentary “Sour” takes place during the Summer of 2006 amidst the second Israel-Lebanon War. It is the story of nine skaters from Israel and Jordan who decided to make a change in the world they live. They set out on a peaceful rebellion crossing geographical and religious borders in order to skate together for the first time.

This film offers a process of peace through the love of skateboarding and life, unifying two different groups of people what would have otherwise never met, thus the Sour phrase, “A film about doing the things you love, with the people you aren’t supposed to like.”

The groups main question throughout the film is, “What does an instrument of peace look like?” This question isn’t being asked by politicians or by generals; it’s born on the streets where this “crew” has taken an important step in changing the politics of the region on a grassroots level. What does an instrument of peace look like? We would agree with the SourCrew that is has four wheels, two trucks, and a plank of wood that is all screwed together to make a skateboard.

SourCrew will be showing their documentary around the globe this summer. They will be at the Boston International Film Festival on June 14th. If can’t be in B-TOWN, you can also buy the Sour Documentary from their website: SourCrew.com. If for some reason you can’t do either of the above, our Sour friends have a trailer on their website for you viewing pleasure, chances are you will change your mind about the two choices above once you’ve seen the preview clip.
